There are regular ferry services scheduled between the major islands. If you have the time and a taste for adventure, you'll find voyaging scenic and exciting, a true taste of island travel. While Fiji has many luxurious cruise ships, inter-island vessels carry freight as well as passengers. Deck passage is the usual way to go, with a few cabins available on some of the ships on a first-come, first-served basis. For an interesting mode of transport, two companies offer ferry service to Savusavu on the island of Vanua Levu: Consort Shipping from Suva on Viti Levu and
Blighwater Shipping operating M.V. Westerland and M.V. Suilven from Suva, Natovi, and Lautoka Viti Levu to Savusavu and Taveuni on Vanua Levu.
Bus service is available between Savusavu and other regional towns daily. This is a great way to travel. You will see a lot more of the country side and meet a lot of friendly locals and other visitors to the country as well.
Taxi service is abundant in and around the Savusavu area and the fares are reasonable.
For dependable taxi service, I highly recommend...
Jerry's Taxi Service!
His taxi is one of the cleanest cars in town, I called it the "Everything Works Taxi."
Phone number is 997-9245 cell or 885-0451 home, and he is based at the Savusavu Market Taxi Stand.
Jerry offers service in and around the Savusavu area, and Island wide tour
service. My favorite tours were his coast line tour to Buca Bay and the Labasa
tour, Labasa is known as the "Sugar Cane Town" and is the largest town on the island.
Check out the rest, ride with the best...
